The Philadelphia Eagles announced bleak news for the offense ahead of their Week 18 game against the New York Giants. The update doesn’t bode well for their playoff game next week, either.
The Eagles have suffered a late-season collapse, losing four of their previous five games. They will need to beat the Giants on Sunday and hope for the Dallas Cowboys to lose to the Washington Commanders for the Eagles to win the NFC East.
They’ll be short one wide receiver.

Head coach Nick Sirianni initially said he expected Smith to be available to play the Giants this week after a photo appeared of the wide receiver leaving the stadium in Week 17 on crutches and in a walking boot. Smith said he was “feeling good” earlier this week.
The optimistic scenario didn’t play out and it could bite the Eagles in the playoffs. It’s concerning Smith did not practice at all this week. If Smith can play, his injury could limit his abilities in the wild-card round. The Eagles don’t need one of their top targets battered in the playoffs.
The Eagles must force the ball to A.J. Brown this week. Brown wants the touches and he’s the best target to help get a win over the Giants.
Philadelphia might have a different story to tell on Smith next week.
