We missed out on a 3-0 sweep Monday due to a rainout, but that's still a 2-0 start to the week in strikeout props. Let's hope for some better weather and more winners with my three favorite K props for Tuesday's MLB slate.
This isn't the same Adam Wainwright you remember from years ago. The 41-year-old version has surrendered 22 earned runs over his last four starts, ballooning his ERA to a career-worst 8.42. Wainwright also has a career-worst 5.1 strikeouts per nine innings, and he's gone under 3.5 Ks 13 times in 16 starts this season. This number is only 3.5 because the Pittsburgh Pirates are tied for the most strikeouts in MLB over the last 15 days, but they shouldn't have those issues against a washed-up Waino.
Speaking of starting pitchers on the back end of their career, Noah Syndergaard has a career-worst 5.8 strikeouts per nine innings in 16 starts this season. The right-hander has gone over 3.5 Ks just once in his last seven starts, and I can't see him clearing that number against the Los Angeles Dodgers. LA is averaging only 6.5 Ks per game over the last 15 days, which is the lowest mark in MLB over that span. Take the under.
Wade Miley hasn't been much of a swing-and-miss pitcher this season. The left-hander has fanned 55 batters in 16 starts, and he's gone over 4.5 Ks just three times all year. This is the easiest matchup for strikeouts that he'll face all season, though, as the Minnesota Twins have recorded a 38.3 percent K percentage over the last week. That's the worst mark in MLB by a wide margin. If there was any game for Miley to pop in the strikeout department, it would be this one.
